Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli cook some of the best Italian food in New York City. If you ever dined at Quality Italian you know this to be true; same goes for their stint at dinnertable, the tiny restaurant located in the back of an East Village bar. The moment I knew I would follow them unto the ends of the earth: their outstanding pasta omakase, a noodle pop-up the two ran in 2016. Luckily for me—and for you, too, pasta lover—the chefs have taken their shared experience in kitchens around NYC and brought many of their refined recipes to their new restaurant, Don Angie, which opens Tuesday evening in the West Village.
The unique lasagna for two that they made famous at dinnertable comes to Greenwich Avenue, its unique spiral figure intact. So does the ridiculously delicious Buffalo Milk Caramele, a buttery, cheese-filled pasta that will test your ability to not lick your plate clean in public. Then their experience with the steakhouse model butts in—Tacinelli was chef de cuisine at Quality Meats—with a prime rib braciole that also nods to the couple's shared Italian-American heritage.
