Joey’s Italian Restaurant is sold: No change planned to food, but something big is coming

After 41 years, Joey DeCuffa has sold a majority stake in the restaurants that bear his name on Carrier Circle and have earned a reputation as among Central New York’s best for Italian dining.

The fine-dining Joey’s Classic Italian and its upstairs casual-menu sister operation, Pronto Joey’s, will be operated by Bill Cleary, a Cortland businessman. Cleary’s experience includes operating Pudgie’s pizza Five Guys burger shops in the Cortland area and working in commercial real estate.
