The gist: Restaurateur Mark Barak of Claudette just opened a brand new Italian-inspired eatery called La Pecora Bianca last night in NoMad. The menu highlights farm-fresh ingredients including pasture-raised local Hudson Valley meat, whole grain pastas, and seasonal veggies.
The food: The focus here is on housemade pastas made with organic flours — think buckwheat fusilli with 'nduja arrabiatta (spicy tomato sauce with sausage) and whole wheat chitarra pasta pomodoro. Chef Simone Bonelli (Perbacco) also offers a selection of meats and cheeses as well as appetizers like fluke crudo, gazpacho and fresh seasonal salads.
