Fast-rising Long Island City is getting a next generation Italian joint. Oro, a new construction restaurant at 41-17 Crescent St., is slated to open later this month from Vlado Celic and his son Mike Celic. Vlado came to New York from Croatia in 1986, and ran restaurant Appetito on W. 39th Street before this.
Chef Tony Cacace will offer classic dishes like baked clams and homemade thin crust pizzas. The 6,000 square-foot restaurant seats 160 people, with an additional 25 seats at the bar. Oro shares the same address as the Crescent Club, a luxury condo building that opened in 2012.
