October is Italian heritage month and Rocco’s of Roc Beach has launched a 4-course tasting menu, featuring a new region of Italy each week. Chef Bruno and Rocco’s Team created a wonderful selection with a taste of Calabria last week, and The Wave really enjoyed our meal.
Calabria, a region of southwest Italy, occupies the “toe” of the country’s boot-shaped peninsula. It’s a sun-baked region of rugged mountains, old-fashioned villages, and a dramatic coastline, with many popular beaches. Calabrian recipes make large use of vegetables, especially eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, and red onions.
