Terra Italian Restaurant is the new name and identity of the former Terra International Cuisine in Albany, which for 22 months was the only full-service kosher restaurant between the lower Hudson Valley and Montreal. It is located at 238 Washington Ave. The Facebook page is here.
"There just wasn't support for kosher," Dzavid Cekic, who owned Terra for the past year, tells me. The final day for kosher food was last Thursday, Sept. 29. Cekic, who previously owned Nicole's Italian Restaurant in Guilderland and other Italian eateries over two decades, says the restaurant will be closed this week, reopening Tuesday (10/11) with a new menu. Among the fare presumably will be wood-fired pizza, as the location has a wood oven that was installed for a former tenant, Townsend Park Bakery.
