After serving Italian food to uptowners for 41 years, Angelo Vivolo’s Vivolo has closed its doors at 140 East 74th St. near Lexington Avenue. A sign posted outside the restaurant announces the closure but does not provide any details for why it’s closing. The phone number is no longer in service, and Eater NY has reached out for more information.
Angelo Vivolo issued a statement to Eater NY, saying he hopes to stay in the restaurant industry by consulting or finding a location for new restaurant. “Unfortunately to be profitable is difficult with present conditions,” he writes. “It is very difficult for a neighborhood restaurant of 40 years plus like mine to survive.”
