While South Florida boasts a number of Italian restaurants, Sardinia Enoteca serves dishes that differ from typical Italian-American fare. It’s located at the South Delray Shopping Center and is co-owned by Antonio “Tony” Gallo and chef Pietro Vardeu. Its sister restaurant in Miami Beach has been a staple since 2006.
“This is more authentic Italian, we specialize a little bit more in the Sardinian cuisine,” Gallo says. Sardinia Enoteca is reflective of Vardeu’s hometown of Sardinia, Italy, the second largest island in the Mediterranean. Offerings include a selection of seafoods, vegetables and meats, cooked in a wood-burning oven to create the restaurant’s signature flavor.
