The fourth edition of Barolo & Barbaresco World Opening made its way to Austin, Texas. This new edition marked a key milestone for the wines of the Langhe region in the USA: on March 25th, the BBWO, organized by the Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani Protection Consortium, welcomed over 450 industry professionals and 450 wine enthusiasts at The Branch Park Pavilion in Austin.

The event featured over 150 producers from the Langhe area, with approximately 300 labels of Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG available for tasting by sommeliers, trade professionals, the press, and wine lovers.

Following the success of previous editions in New York (2020 and 2024) and Los Angeles (2022), the Texas stop confirmed BBWO as the most important international initiative promoted by the Consortium. This remarkable achievement paves the way for future editions, with the next event set to take place in Canada in 2026, followed by a subsequent U.S. edition in 2027.

Held at the Branch Park Pavilion, the 2025 edition offered guests the chance to experience the excellent 2021 vintages of Barolo DOCG and 2022 vintages of Barbaresco DOCG up close, showcasing the true expressions of elegance, complexity, and the distinctive character of the Langhe terroir. As part of the European project “Landmarks from Europe: Good products made with respect, Respect made with good products,” BBWO plays a significant role in promoting these iconic appellations, as well as Fontina DOP, in the U.S. market.
