Congratulations, Uptown Plaza, you win the Lou Malnati's lottery! The much-beloved purveyor of Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza is targeting a May opening, and the restaurant's management has chosen a location at Phoenix's Uptown Plaza, alongside Sam Fox's Flower Child and New York's famed burger joint, Shake Shack.
It's a coup both for Lou Malnati's and Uptown Plaza, the landmark 1950s shopping center at Camelback Road and Central Avenue that is undergoing a Mid-Century Modern renovation under the direction of Vintage Partners. One of the oldest names in deep-dish pizza, Lou Malnati's operates over 40 locations in the Chicagoland area.
