There’s no doubt that Italy is a feast for all the senses, especially the sense of taste. Italian food products and cuisine have infiltrated just about every corner of the globe, but there’s no comparison to trying classic Italian recipes at their source—and there’s so much more than pizza, pasta, and gelato.
Italian cuisine is very regional, so don’t expect to find the same dishes on menus all over the country. Forget about spaghetti with meatballs and chicken parm—when in Italy, embrace the local cuisine. From carbonara in Rome to the best street food in Palermo, each Italian region has its own recipes.
