Street photography is photography that features the human condition within public places; framing and timing are key aspects of the craft, with the aim of creating images at a decisive or poignant moment. Paris is widely accepted as the birthplace of street photography; Eugene Atget is regarded as the father of the genre, but it's Henri Cartier-Bresson who gave it the wide popularity and recognition it still has today.
The Italian group – 20 selected authors – has tasked itself with showing that Italy too can have its say in this form of art. The new website www.italianstreetphotography.com, launched with the support of partners www.photographers.it and www.urban.dotart.it, presents itself as "a collector of street art energies that operate on our territory" and the authors describe themselves as part of an Italian street photography style. Their goal is to export their unique way of interpreting the world, promoting and spreading their art in Italy and abroad.
