
"The Italy-USA bilateral relationship is very solid. The United States is our main ally and partner outside Europe" and with the new Trump administration "there are no reasons why this relationship cannot continue to develop as it has so far". This was underlined by Italy's ambassador to Washington, Mariangela Zappia, on the sidelines of the annual Ambassadors' Conference at the Farnesina.
"The transatlantic alliance is the backbone of our foreign policy," she added, "it is part of our value system and over the years the relationship with the United States has always developed positively. The ambassador said she was confident that even with the new Trump administration "this extraordinary relationship will continue.
