If there is anything Pierpaolo Piccioli is renowned for (besides his unparalleled palette and astonishing volumes), it is the generosity he brings to this industry – that, instead of inhabiting the caricature of a singular, menacing genius, he has gone the other way entirely to become perhaps the nicest man in fashion.
That sensibility often materialises through the way that he celebrates his couture collections, where he has regularly encouraged his ateliers to take a finale bow alongside him – and, this season, the people he worked alongside appeared in guests’ hotel rooms in the form of a tower of papers declaring each of their names, while the looks themselves were once more named after those who worked on them.
