Cameron Diaz decided in 2018 to take a break from the spotlight to pursue her wine project more closely, going so far as to create the Avaline line of organic wines. Today the American actress has chosen the organic line from Cantine Losito in Puglia to expand the range of Avaline labels to be marketed in the United States, including for the first time an Italian producer.
Created with the help of fashion and make-up entrepreneur Katherine Power, the Avaline line of wines is rooted in an organic philosophy, with no residual pesticides, vegan friendly and no added sugars, dyes or other artificial concentrates. A precise and timely identikit that has found full resonance in the values, scents, flavors and production style of Foggia-based Losito Leonardo Cellars.
The latter is in fact a family-run winery that has been tending land and rows for three generations now, strong with a total of sixty hectares dedicated to organic production (so much so, to be fair, that it represents one of the most prominent pioneering examples in the Apulian context). The ideal candidate for the identity imprint that Cameron Diaz wanted to imprint on his line of wines.
It is easy to associate the name and the cultural and gastronomic heritage of Puglia with red wine-from Primitivo to Negroamaro, passing also and above all through Nero di Troia, the heel of the Boot is famous above all for its red productions. What attracted the attention of Cameron Diaz and his partner, however, was the white soul of Puglia, which finds its headquarters in the Alto Tavoliere delle Puglie, bordering the Gargano promontory.
Falanghina and Fiano, then: for Avaline's Italian Bianco, Cantine Losito created a blend of these two varieties with the aim of enhancing the citrus, floral and tropical notes and resulting in a "fresh, complex and mineral wine on the palate reminiscent of a journey between the seas and mountains of the Gargano."
