1,600 lower secondary school students – in other words, what used to be called middle schools – and 840 university students. The latter serve as tutors for the former, helping them with their homework. This is a new project introduced in Italy called Compiti@casa, designed to support the educational journey of younger students through tutoring provided by older students, who are specially trained and compensated.
The tutoring covers both the sciences and the humanities, and it benefits those experiencing learning difficulties, educational disadvantages, low academic performance, or limited participation in school life. Compiti@casa was conceived by the De Agostini Foundation and the University of Turin, with partnerships established across Italy.
