During Easter, 11.3 million Italians will travel, with 2.7 million opting for an extended vacation. The total business turnover is expected to reach 4.9 billion euros, according to a survey released by Federalberghi. The "big departures" are expected on Good Friday, when five million Italians will start their holiday period.
Among those interviewed who will not be going on vacation, 46.6% revealed they will stay home for financial reasons; 35.3% for family reasons, and another 12% for work commitments. Italy remains the top destination for 88% of those surveyed, while the opportunity for a longer vacation will encourage many (12%) to choose foreign destinations.
