The Euganean Hills in Veneto have been inscribed on the List of World Biodiversity Reserves: exemplary places where economic, social and cultural development is sustainable and benefits from respect for the ecosystem and biodiversity.

The Unesco Mab World Reserves network consists of 748 sites around the world, 20 of which are in Italy. They are living and unique places in the world, where it is possible to ensure eco-friendly development and a livable environment in a global context characterized by processes of rapid urbanization and excessive energy consumption considered as triggers of climate change.

With today's result, Veneto arrives at 18 Unesco recognitions, conquering a national record: 9 material heritage sites (from Venice to Verona, from Vicenza to Padua, from the Dolomites to Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, from pile-dwelling sites to Venetian defense works), 5 intangible heritage sites (Art of Glass Beads, Tocatì, Transhumance, Dry Stone Walls, Opera), 4 Mab reserves (Po Grande, Po Delta, Monte Grappa, Euganean Hills).

The Euganean Hills boast a spectacular landscape characterized by a group of 81 picturesque volcanic hills varying in height from 300 meters to 600 meters in the Paduan-Venetian Plain southwest of the city of Padua, including Monte Venda, the highest hill in the region, as well as spas and a lush agricultural plain with numerous olive groves and vineyards.
