Things are looking up for the Italian airport system, due to increases in incoming tourists and exports of Italian products to the rest of the world. The details on air traffic for 2016 were published in a report by Assaeroporti (the airport management association).
The general outlook
In comparison to 2015, passenger traffic has grown by 4.6%; the total volume of transported goods is up +5.9%; and the number of takeoffs/landings has increased by 2.6%. Specifically, 164.69 million passengers went through the 36 Italian airports monitored by Assaeroporti—around 7.5 million more than in 2015.
