Stefano Boeri, the prominent Italian architect known internationally for Milan's Vertical Forest building, has designed a park bench aimed at providing shelter for the homeless. The Milanese architect presented his innovative design at the FuoriSalone 2022 during Milan Design Week which concluded in recent days.
In addition to its regular function as a place to sit for passersby, Boeri's bench has armrests that convert into headrests and a movable panel that can become a roof. "In these years in many cities, also in Italy, we have seen benches designed to prevent people from relaxing, lying down, sleeping" - Boeri said - "This bench is the exact opposite."
