Bronte is a Sicilian town of about 20,000 inhabitants. It is situated in the province of Catania and is famous all over the world because is the major centre of the production of pistachio nuts. Located at the bottom of Mount Etna, the volcano that Sicilians love to call 'AMuntagna (i.e. 'the mountain' in local dialect), Bronte offers the perfect habitat for the growing of the finest quality of pistachio in the world.
Moreover, in January 2010 the "Pistacchio verde di Bronte" eventually received the PDO Certification (Protected Designation of Origin) from the European Commission. This certification links the quality of the product to the territory where it is produced.
