Students in Italy are those who, more than any other European peers, want to pursue careers to change and improve the world. Especially after the lonely times they experienced during the lockdown. In fact, 81% of them would like to make a difference in the world with their work and in many different fields such as medicine, psychology, physiotherapy or caring for the environment by taking care and assisting animals.
This is revealed in the "GoStudent Future of Education Report 2023," conducted by one of the world's leading online repetition platforms, GoStudent. Responding to the questionnaire were 1015 parents and 1015 children from Generation Z (born between 2006 and 2009) and Alpha (born between 2010-2012). The same questionnaire was submitted to families in Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, Germany, and France.
Young Italians are the most altruistic. They are the ones, that is, truly determined to make their mark on the future to come. The boost also comes from the feeling experienced by children and adolescents during the darkest months of the pandemic: 65% of them felt isolated, GoStudent's Education Report 2021 revealed. This is the highest percentage in Europe. A very high number, but one that has also inspired and motivated them to seek work in professions that can return positive feelings.
It is precisely the desire to establish themselves professionally, and in the profession of their dreams, that drives students in Italy to commit themselves to study: 94%, the highest figure when compared to other European countries, decided to work hard in their education. 92% - again, this is the highest figure in Europe - not only want to achieve, but also to start a brilliant and successful career, full of satisfaction. 90% of young people, however, are not willing to sacrifice social relations, which they define as fundamental to improving themselves from a human point of view.
73% of male and female students count on enrolling in university: the vast majority of the jobs that most of them dream of doing require a well-defined education, complete with a degree and habilitation. Again, Italy tops the list, but this time not alone: it shares the top spot with Spain.
