At the start of the six-hour final of the Festival di Sanremo, twenty-six acts were competing for the victory. The first couple of nights had been won by Ermal Meta, Annalisa and the duo Colapesce & Dimartino. Each of them won a different section of the vote on their night, meaning that the full result was still unclear and up in the air.
When, after all acts had performed, hosts Amadeus and Fiorello went through the ranking to find out who the superfinalists were, it became clear that of the winners, Annalisa was the first to see her hopes being dashed. She finished in seventh place with her song Dieci. Colapesce & Dimartino’s Musica Leggerissima only just missed out on the superfinal, finishing in fourth.
