Four years later, an Italian, Lisa Vittozzi, returns to win the overall women's biathlon standings. It is the first globe in the 29-year-old Sappada native's career and the third for Italy in the last six editions of the World Cup. Vittozzi triumphed, complete with flag in hand, at the finish line in Canmore, Canada, before lifting the overall World Cup to the sky for the first time in her career.
It was the best possible epilogue to a triumphant week, but above all the crowning achievement of a season that was always at a high level, during which she distinguished herself for her precision in the shot. For Italy, on the other hand, it is the third globe in the last six editions of the World Cup, Vittozzi adding to the roll four seasons after Dorothea Wierer's encore.
Lisa becomes the first Italian to add two specialty crystal balls, individual and pursuit, to the biggest one.
