One of Rome’s sweetest institutions celebrates its 125th birthday by nourishing its Italian roots

Many Romans – in fact, many Italians – consider them the country's cookies par excellence: the ones that taste of childhood memories, the ones you cannot do without even as a grownup. Fragrant breakfasts and cozy afternoon teas, gourmet moments and familiar names (Osvego, Novellini, Brasil) preserved in exquisite biscuit tins that take pride of place in many a collector's home.

For the past 125 years, Gentilini has delighted generations of Romans and Italians, and been part of the capital's everyday life – besides being one of the oldest establishments of its kind in the country.
