Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, day 5: lots of new medals for Italy

Gold medal and world record for Simone Barlaam in the 50-style S9. The Italian set a new world record by swimming 23"90. Gold also for Giulia Ghiretti in the 100 breaststroke SB4. Manuel Bortuzzo takes bronze in the 100 breaststroke Sb4 at the Paris Palalympics.

Shortly before, Federico Bicelli triumphed in the 400 S7 style. Behind him were Trusov and Basilof. Over the same distance, but among women, Giulia Terzi won the bronze medal. Three other blue medals, two silvers and a bronze, had previously come for the athletes involved in Paris.

Veronica Yoko Plebani of Italy, 28, from Brescia, Gavardo, won the silver medal in the Paris 2024 ParaTriathlon women's PTS 2 event. It is the second Olympic medal for the Italian; she had been bronze in Tokyo 2020.

Also in the evening came a bronze medal for Carlotta Gilli in the 50-meter S13. For the Italian it is the fourth medal, after a gold, a silver and a bronze already won in this edition “I am happy. It was a game this competition. The goal was to get to the finals. Arrived the medal so better. I confirmed the bronze from Tokyo. Maxcel Amo Manu took the silver medal in the 100-meter T64 instead. Silver also went to Francesca Tarantello in the PTVI women's ParaTriathlon (visually impaired athletes, her guide is Silvia Visaggio).

In the evening, Italy's pair of Daila Dameno and Paolo Tonon won the bronze medal in the Paris 2024 ParaArchery Mixed Team W1 event.
