The municipality elected Italy's Most Loved Village is located in Tuscany. The Italia Destinazione Digitale recognition was awarded as part of the Oscars of Tourism. Peccioli won over all others by being the best in terms of online performance.

A total of 32 million digital traces were examined and 797 thousand points of tourist, historical and cultural interest were monitored, along with accommodations and restaurants between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024. The municipality in the province of Pisa came out on top in terms of sentiment and popularity.

On the podium in second and third place, respectively: Ripatransone in Marche, Petralia Sottana in Sicily. Also awarded were Veneto as the Destination with the best reputation (the destination preferred by Italian and international visitors) and Ragusa (Sicily) as the Destination with the best food and wine offer.

Peccioli, a municipality of about 5,000 inhabitants, has been elected Borgo dei Borghi 2024. Its fame, which has made it a point of great cultural interest that is also touted on social media, is linked above all to the local art of a series of personalities who have transformed it into a veritable open-air museum. David Tremlett, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Daniel Buren, Sergio Staino, Marinella Senatore, Alicja Kwade, Mario Cucinella: to them we owe the success of Peccioli, which accomplices word of mouth and social media has become a point of great tourist interest, very popular online.

It is no coincidence that in 2021 Peccioli was the focus of the Italian Pavilion at the Architecture Biennale as a manifesto of resilient community. The town, in fact, managed to turn the creation of a landfill into a positive one in the late 1990s: waste became a way to make art, to experiment with new projects, to bring beauty. A true artistic adventure, that of Peccioli, its inhabitants, and its artists, which has become an example of redevelopment of the territory, protection of origins, and love for one's own land, beyond any external intrusion.

Walking through Peccioli, works and installations created over the past 30 years stand out in the historic center and among the alleys. Among the most Instagrammed in Italy are the characteristic human figures that sprout from fields and on rooftops. The statues, initially called Presenze, have since been affectionately nicknamed the Giants of Peccioli: they are sculptures that stick out of the ground and reproduce human likenesses, up to 9 meters high and weighing more than 1,000 kilograms, handcrafted with very basic tools and materials. They are a symbol of the rebirth of this place, of those who do not give up and continue to promote art and beauty despite everything. Some of these sculptures have served as stage sets for performances and concerts by Andrea Bocelli.
