As a styling house, Pininfarina has some of the best-looking — and most popular — production cars under its belt. You may recognize their work if you look at a wide range of Ferraris, stemming from the legendary 250 all the way through the Enzo and the 458 Italia, most would agree the company ‘s designers know how cars should look. Now, they’re putting their own name to an electric hypercar. The Pininfarina Battista will make its North American debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show. From there, it will head into production in 2020.
Fittingly, the name Battista refers to the company’s founder, Battista “Pinin” Farina (Later Battista Pininfarina), who started the firm in 1930. Pininfarina’s namesake car is certainly striking, both to look at and on paper. The company is claiming the title for the Battista as “the most powerful car ever designed and built in Italy”, and to that end produces 1,900 horsespower through its four electric motors. Torque is equally monstrous, with 1,696 lb-ft.
