For Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024, June 21 will mark a triple anniversary: the 60th Pesaro International New Cinema Festival, the 30th year of the Music Festival, and the centenary of Henry Mancini's birth. It will be these three anniversaries that will characterize the Mancini 100 concert organized by the Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro in collaboration with the Pesaro Film Festival.

In Piazza del Popolo, at 9:30 p.m. with free admission, the Rossini Conservatory Rhythmic Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to Henry Mancini with a program composed entirely of his music arranged and conducted by School of Jazz teachers Gian Marco Gualandi, Vincenzo Presta, Massimiliano Rocchetta.

An Italian-American composer, conductor and arranger, honored with 20 Grammy Awards, four Academy Awards and a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Mancini marked the public's imagination with unforgettable soundtracks for the films Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Pink Panther, Charade, Peter Gunn, Victor Victoria, and Hatari.

The tribute to his music will simultaneously be a tribute to cinema: videos (editing and concept by Mauro Campobasso, Rossini's professor of jazz guitar) will accompany the chosen repertoire with images taken not only from the greatest hits of American directors Blake Edwards and Stanley Donen, with whom Mancini collaborated for decades, but also from Vittorio De Sica's I Girasoli, masterfully played by Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren.
