The secret to Italian men’s style

There’s a type of Italian man who is naturally well dressed. You see him on the streets of every Italian city, but particularly in Milan. And were you to go up to him and ask him what he was wearing, he’d probably shrug and say that he didn’t really know, he just threw it on in the morning.

This sort of bourgeois, well-to-do Italian style — a great tailored jacket, shirt, often under knit, suit or separate trousers, leather shoes, all co-ordinating colours and fabrics, with maybe a three-quarter-length outer jacket on top and soft leather bag in hand — is something these guys grow up with. And it is not about trends. Or fashion labels. There is not a logo in sight, and the hype of the catwalk is a long distance away.
