Cassian Folsom, the American prior of the Monastery of St. Benedict who in 2000 reached Norcia with the idea of rebuilding the monastery attached to the church that collapsed in the earthquake last October 30, is the "spiritual father" of Brunello Cucinelli, the Perugia iconic fashion entrepreneur who in 2012 listed his group on the Milan Stock Exchange.
After the earthquake the roles were reversed. Now it is Cucinelli's turn to comfort Father Cassian: "They are suffering. It is understandable. They were saved because they moved to the monastery outside of the walls. And they continue to repeat that all of the churches are destroyed." Cucinelli, though saddened, still recalls Mozart's requiem, interspersed with Gregorian chants, that for years was held in the Church of St. Benedict at the beginning of July.
