Tracy Roberts-Pounds is the new Consul General of the United States of America, Naples. She began her career in the U.S. Department of State in 2000 and is a career diplomat in the Senior Foreign Service. From 2018 to 2021, Ms. Roberts-Pounds served as head of the Regional Peace and Security Office at the Bureau for African Affairs.
Previously, she served as Director of International Media Relations at the Bureau of Global Public Affairs, and oversaw the State Department's six regional media hubs and foreign language spokespersons. From 2010 to 2016, she worked in the Middle East, including three years as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Commander of U.S. Navy Operations and Commander of the Fifth Fleet, based in Manama, Bahrain.
She also held diplomatic posts in Kuwait and Syria and studied Arabic in Tunisia.
In Washington, she worked for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and at the Bureau of Legislative Affairs. She is married to an American career diplomat, Timothy Pounds, and has two sons and a daughter. Ms. Roberts-Pounds graduated from Washington University in St. Louis; she speaks Italian, Arabic and Spanish.
