When it comes to romantic getaways or solo weekend trips, few cities deliver quite like Verona. The Italian city, famous as the setting for Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," offers walkable streets, decadently rich gelato and impromptu dancing in the streets. Here's how to spend a weekend in Verona.
Start with a short half-hour trip outside the city, with a visit to the Tommasi winery. The Tommasi family makes several wines, including an award-winning Amarone Classico, full of dark red fruit notes. The winery accommodates visits, with reservations, that last about one hour, and include wine tastings.
