It is called "The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2022" and it is the competition that awards the world's best bubbles, sparkling or sparkling wines. Those who receive the most valuable award, in addition to having a certificate of excellence, then compete in the last stage, where the best bubbles in each category are elected, the so-called "Best in class," i.e., the world champions of the competition.
This year Italian bubbles won an impressive 53 golds and 129 silvers, a haul that places it in second place, behind France, as the most recognized country. Also to the French goes the title of best sparkling wine in the competition. But if we talk about individual wineries, it is an Italian winery that has received the most medals.
Standing out in the tally of golds is Ferrari Trento, which won the "Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year" award, with 11 golds taken home (none in the world like it). Among Italian bubblies, considering the single label, however, it is Kettmeir that is our most appreciated product. With its Metodo Classico Athesis Brut Alto Adige in Magnum 2018, the winery of the Santa Margherita wines group won both the "National Champion Best Italian Sparkling Wine" and the "World Champion Rising Star" awards. That is if we are talking about whites. Because in the category of sparkling reds, it is the Cleto Chiarli 2021 Vecchia Modena Premium in Magnum that takes the World Champion crown. And in the aromatic sparkling wines as well an Italian wine wins, namely the Cuvage NV Aquesi Asti.
