An extraordinary project opens the doors of the Quirinale to (virtual) visitors from all over the world. Just go to the Google Arts & Culture platform to visit rooms, courtyards, details little known to the general public: the Courtyard of Honor or the Salone dei Corazzieri, the largest room of all, of which you can admire the magnificent wooden ceiling, the Cappella Paolina or exhibitions hosted in the Palace as the collection of 200 clocks and pendulums. And of course the office of the President. A 360-degree immersive tour possible directly from the computer of your desk or smartphone. The virtual tour also includes the Castelporziano estate and Villa Rosebery.

Opening the doors of the House of Italians to the public clearly has a broader meaning than an art tour. It means allowing citizens to participate in the life of the State, starting from the fact that the Quirinale is, as President Sergio Mattarella has repeatedly said, "a living and vital building for our democracy". In fact, it was Mattarella himself who extended, as of June 23, 2015, the opening of the Palace to the public, inviting people to visit a heritage that belongs to all Italians.

The visit can become a way to retrace its history. Papal palace until 1870, it then became the palace of the first king of Italy, until, with the referendum of June 2, 1946, the Republic was proclaimed. Since January 1, 1948 the Quirinale has become the official seat of the Presidency of the Republic. The building houses an artistic heritage dating back 400 years of history of inestimable value.

The journey through the presidential palace is aimed at different age groups and also includes interactions, games and quizzes for children. Over 1,000 images and more than 100 kilometers of Street View digitizations have been uploaded to the web. Not to be missed, among the exhibitions, the new collection of works of the contemporary Italian twentieth century Quirinale, a rich exploration of contemporary art including paintings, sculptures and design. And there is the possibility to explore the beautiful outdoor gardens through Street View technology on Google Arts & Culture that allows you to enter the Viale delle Palme, bordered on both sides by 12 geometric flower beds with a rare and rich collection of tree species.
