When Joe Tuzzio was 15 years old, a chef at his family's restaurant walked off the job. The teenager, who was 10 when his parents bought the former Silver Dollar Bar from his great-aunt and uncle in 1965, was sent into the kitchen.
“I've been back there ever since,” said Tuzzio, now 67. “My mother was always in the kitchen, my father was always out front bartending. With her guidance and me working myself into the chef position, (by) the time I was out of high school, I was full-time running the kitchen."
