Along the Italian sea: beaches, memories, and summer dreams

By: Barbara Minafra

There comes a time each year when thoughts naturally drift toward the sea, vacations, and a slower rhythm of life. The days grow longer, the sun shines brighter, and that familiar anticipation of summer begins to settle in, a feeling shared by Italians and by the millions of visitors who choose to explore Italy during its warmest season.

Yet Italy’s coastline is far more than a seasonal attraction: it is a cultural, natural, and historical treasure that tells the story of the nation itself and, for many of us, part of our own story as well. From the dramatic cliffs of Liguria to the golden beaches of Sardinia, from the crystalline waters of Puglia to the sheltered coves of Sicily, Italy’s coastline is one of the country’s greatest assets.
