On October 20, 2025, a special Italian postage stamp was issued in honor of the 50th anniversary of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF).
The stamp is part of Italy’s thematic series “Social Values” and was released by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. The stamp carries the value for Zone B at €2.55 and has a print run of 150,030 copies.
The design was produced by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato S.p.A., printed using rotogravure on white, coated, self-adhesive paper with optical brightener. The artwork features the NIAF’s 50th-anniversary logo set against a background of stars echoing the American flag. Surrounding the logo are the inscriptions “NATIONAL ITALIAN AMERICAN FOUNDATION,” “ITALIA,” and the tariff designation “B zona 2.”
To mark the occasion, a first-day cancellation was made available at the Rome V.R. post office. Alongside the stamp, philatelic products were released—these include a folder containing the stamp, a stamp sheetlet of four, a prepaid postcard, a first-day cover, and a descriptive bulletin. These items are available at post-office branches with philately services, at the “Filatelia” spaces in cities such as Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Turin, Trieste and Verona – and also via the online portal.
This issuance underscores the historic ties between Italy and the Italian-American community. As the largest organization representing over 20 million Italian-American citizens in the United States, the NIAF has long served as a cultural and civic bridge. The new stamp therefore functions not just as a collectible, but as a symbol of shared heritage, ongoing cultural dialogue and mutual respect across the Atlantic.
