Saluting the legacy of one of America's most celebrated Marines, Basilone Beer will make its debut during the annual John Basilone Parade in Raritan Borough on Sept. 20. The beer is a premium, easy-drinking American lager created in honor of Medal of Honor recipient Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone.
Basilone, a Raritan native, became a national hero for his extraordinary actions during the Battle of Guadalcanal in World War II, for which he received the Medal of Honor. He later voluntarily returned to combat and was killed in action at Iwo Jima and awarded the Navy Cross.
