There’s not going to be a mozzarella meltdown after all. Leprino Foods, the world’s largest mozzarella maker, could’ve been forced to shut down amid a family feud exposed for the past two weeks in a Denver court. But the jury sided with Leprino Foods and its billionaire owner James Leprino, who was getting sued by two of his nieces for allegedly shutting them out of money-making deals.
“The truth spilled out over the two weeks of this trial,” says Cliff Stricklin, a lawyer at Denver-based King & Spalding who represented Leprino Foods and the majority shareholders. “They returned a verdict in three hours: A complete rejection of those claims. It ensures the future of Leprino Foods and the legacy of James Leprino.”
