Collezione Farnesina: The Digital Path to Cultural Diplomacy

The Collezione Farnesina opens its doors online! Thanks to the collaboration between the Farnesina (the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs) and Google Arts & Culture, it is now possible—free of charge, at any time, and from anywhere—to explore the contemporary Italian artworks that make up the Collection.

The digitalization project for the Collezione Farnesina, launched in 2016, now allows access to over 400 pieces of content, including photographs and descriptions of artworks, new acquisitions, the decorations of the Farnesina Palace, and the Italian Cultural Institutes.

Using Street View technology, users can enjoy 10 virtual tours of various areas of the Palace (the first floor and the main corridors of the ground and second floors).

Additionally, 16 thematic insights are available (covering the history of the Palace and the main artistic movements of the Collection), a digital comic by Italian illustrator Alessandro Baronciani, and interactive exhibitions based on Pocket Gallery technology.
