Colorful Focaccia and Cookies in NoMad

By: Florence Fabricant

As good an Italian rainbow cookie as you’re likely to find is just one temptation in the bakery that’s the second part of Jonathan Benno’s ambitious enterprise in the newly redone Evelyn hotel in NoMad. The shop features breads and pastries, including the classic triangular Italian sfogliatella, and assorted traditional cookies. At 11 a.m. each day, the focaccia arrives.

The two-foot-long stretches of crusty, chewy flatbreads, with various toppings, are sold whole, half or by the piece. Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, 7 East 27th Street (Fifth Avenue), 212-451-9495,leonellirestaurants.com.
