Milan's Expo officially kicked off earlier this month, and the city expects to attract up to 20 million visitors from around the world, throughout the fair's six-month duration. So far, things are looking quite positive, as the main attraction – a 3.6 million square foot fair featuring 145 participating countries – is likely to attract 1 million visitors by May 15th , according to Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
Due to the World Exposition which has a different host city every five years, Italy has invested over €10 billion in construction and infrastructure throughout the city. Milan is largely relying on tourism expenditure within the city boarders, in order for Expo 2015 to be considered a commercial success. Though the theme of the Expo 2015 is food ("Feeding the planet, energy for life") there's one thing the city is more notorious for than anything else: fashion.
