Karima Moyer-Nocchi has lived in the Umbria region of central Italy for 35 years. During her decades abroad, the Toledo native has deepened her passion for food — specifically in culinary history studies. She’s written three books on her research, with her latest The Epic History of Macaroni and Cheese published in February.
Her new book explores the complex journey of the comfort food staple, with politics, culture, and religion at the forefront. Her debut book, Chewing the Fat: An Oral History of Italian Foodways from Fascism to Dolce Vita, came out in 2015 and her second, The Eternal Table: A Cultural History of Food in Rome, released in 2019.
