Culture & Traditions: Why it’s important to attend Italian-American festivals

Cities across America with its once strong Italian heritage are disappearing into the homogenization and logo-fication of American commercialism, deteriorating the unique and authentic voices and traditions which has helped make this country strong in its diversity. Whatever charm our Little Italy's had is slowly being eroded by a deluge of boutiques and Chinese language signs for reflexology spas.

Our feasts and festivals remain the last bastions for Italophiles. These festivals were created to honor the past, celebrate the present, and preserve Italian-American culture. Three festivals start in NJ and NYC this week. Your attendance and support is what makes these events possible.
