The Italian Heritage and Cultural Committee of Norwich will honor longtime community leader Frank Jacaruso with a Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual banquet Oct. 9 in Norwich. The committee selected a Lifetime Achievement recipient this year instead of naming two Italians of the Year, according to a community announcement. The banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn in Norwich.

Born April 29, 1938, Jacaruso comes from Italian immigrant roots tracing to the regions of Calabria and Puglia. Raised on Norwich's East Side, he grew up in a close-knit Italian American community that helped shape a lifelong commitment to family, service and heritage, according to the announcement.
