An espresso ordered in New York, a soprano applauded in Chicago, or a pair of jeans purchased anywhere in America carries a connection to Italy. Everyday vocabulary preserves the journeys of inventions, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions that have crossed borders and become part of international life.
That movement is the inspiration behind “Onde – Parole italiane in viaggio,” an initiative developed by Fondazione Treccani Cultura with Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Presented for Italian Language Week worldwide, held October 19–25, 2026, the project explores how Italian creativity travels through language.
