The Infiorata di Noto will celebrate its 47th edition from May 15 to 19. This year’s theme, Pop Culture Tells Its Story, pays tribute to the avant-garde movements, languages, and icons that shaped – and made timeless – the worlds of music, cinema, comics, fashion, and above all, Pop Art.
These are the cultural forces that gave rise to figures whose influence crossed every boundary, among them Freddie Mercury, who also appears on the poster for this five-day celebration, holding a flower in place of a microphone. The image captures the meeting point between pop culture and floral art. Yet pop culture also belongs to names such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Italy’s own Domenico Modugno, artists who moved beyond borders and overturned long-standing conventions.
