THE Higher Council of Public Works within the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has approved funding for sections of the Salerno - Reggio Calabria and Palermo - Catania high-speed lines.
The council has approved the technical and economic feasibility of the first 33km between Battipaglia and Romagnano on the Salerno - Reggio Calabria line. The line is expected to cost €2.7bn, and will be financed through the Italy’s National Plan for Recovery and Resilience (PNRR).
