A statue of Christopher Columbus went on a much shorter voyage than its namesake when it was relocated within a Bergen County park on Oct. 6. Garfield officials were on hand in the morning as the statue was moved to the front of Columbus Park, named for the famed explorer.
The monument previously stood at the back of the park, near the train tracks, where it was "out of sight, out of mind," Mayor Everett Garnto told NorthJersey.com. Now it is in a much more prominent spot under an archway entrance at Outwater Lane and Midland Avenue.
